This list contains some of the maps that I have available for exchanging with other collectors. Please note that the maps on this page are not for sale. Most of the maps here are ones I would consider to be relatively common, and so would make ideal trades for other relatively common maps from other countries. Generally I expect to swap (trade) maps on a one for one basis, with each side paying their own postage, but taking notice of condition, age or rarity when appropriate.

Condition: All maps are in good condition for their age, unless marked FAIR or POOR. FAIR maps will have a noticeable flaw or be fairly heavily used, whereas POOR maps will have a major problem. Please e-mail me for a detailed description of the condition of any map on the above list.

Availability: The date of this list is shown at the top - do not be surprised if it appears to be a few months out of date, as I usually swap maps only in bursts, with several quiet months in between. I will try and keep the list up to date, but inevitably there will be occasions when maps are included that have already been swapped, or cannot be found.

What am I looking for?

I only collect maps issued by petrol, oil, or auto-LPG companies, or those issued by chains of service stations, which can include service stations attached to supermarkets or hypermarkets. I am interested in maps from any country of the world, although my collection has most maps from Britain, Germany and the USA (which means that I am less likely to want more maps from these countries).

Special wants...
I am always looking for maps from smaller names (such as Deltin, Eller Montan, Haltermann, Homberg, Lotherol, Minera, Rheinpreussen, Rückwarth and Westfalen from Germany, or Lobitos, Mex, MS and Murco from Britain & Ireland) and will willingly buy these maps for cash (I can pay in £, $ or € or via PayPal). I also am keen to add more maps dating from before 1939 although I do have a lot of German maps from this period.

...and more common titles
As I have an extensive collection of maps, it is likely that many - but not all - of the more common titles are already in my collection. However I am still looking some of the following maps that may be relatively easy to find:

Nordic Country Maps (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway)
The four Nordic countries have continued to issue petrol company maps long after they have been discontinued in other countries. I am especially looking for maps from the period 1980-95, where my collection is quite lacking in numbers, with a slight preference for brands not found outside the region such as Statoil, OK, Kesoil, Union, Neste, Uno-X and Hydro.

Recent DEA maps from Germany
I am also keen to acquire more of the recent (1988-2000) DEA maps from Germany and neighbouring countries, including the sectional maps and the softback atlas that has been produced.

Recent Aral Freizeitkarten
Also from Germany, Aral has issued series of around 28 Freizeitkarten with photographic card covers at a scale of 1:200,000. Although I have several examples in my collection, there are many more that I have yet to add to it. I also have only one of the 15 titles in the first series of Aral Deutsche Tourenkarten, dating from about 1983.

1960s Italian Shell Cartoguida/Town Plans and BP sectional maps
In the 1960s Shell, BP, Agip and other brands issued some series of sectional maps of the country. The Shell Cartoguida are probably most easily found, and I have a few gaps in the main series, with rather more gaps in the city plans that accompanied them.
I would also like more of the small format BP sectional maps, although these seem to be less commonly found, and of the sectional maps from other brands.

Recent maps from Ireland
Petrol companies in the Republic of Ireland continued to issue maps in the 1980s and 90s after their UK counterparts ceased to do so. Although I have a number of these issues, I am sure that there are others out there, possibly including examples from Burmah and Jet, as well as names such as BP/Statoil, Texaco, Shell, Esso and Maxol/MEX.

Hypermarket map issues
There have been some quite recent issues by supermarket and hypermarkets, such as a 2001 map from the French Champion chain promoting the Tour de France. There may also be others, and if from outside the UK, I would quite probably be interested in them.
